Dotfiles

A reproducible Linux environment, from shell to Nix.

About the project

The dotfiles and bootstrap scripts I use to set up and migrate my environment: Zsh with aliases and functions for Git, Docker, kubectl and AWS; a full setup for Ubuntu and Pop!_OS; KDE Plasma 6 customization on Fedora; and VS Code settings.

Git identity is split per client with includeIf and SSH host aliases, so accounts never mix. The portable-linux profile adds a transactional Python setup — plan, doctor, apply, verify and rollback — rehearsed restores into a temporary HOME with a SHA-256 manifest, and a Home Manager module evaluated in CI with Nix.

Highlights

  • Bootstrap for Ubuntu, Pop!_OS and Fedora, with package differences handled (bat/batcat, fd/fdfind, exa/eza).
  • Multi-client Git with includeIf and per-client SSH, keeping identities isolated.
  • Transactional Python setup with plan, doctor, apply, verify and rollback.
  • Rehearsed restores into a temporary HOME, with a SHA-256 manifest that refuses drift.
  • Nix flake with Home Manager evaluated for x86_64 and ARM64 in CI.
